the International Intergalactic Global Open Mountain Bike Team Relay Championship of the Universe Including the Anti-Matter One

For the first time in 4 years I guess it's been, I was back for the relay at the farm.  It was big fun: fantastic to see familiar faces again and actually be able to relax and talk to people since it's more of a training event than a race.  Not that there was any less pain than during a race, but the lap lasts anywhere from sub 15 to 30ish minutes depending on how fast you are, so there was time in between to talk, eat, and hang out a little before it was back on the trainer.  I spent a total of 2 hours and 25 minutes on my road bike in between laps, and did 4 laps on the mountain bike; 3 during the race and 1 as a warm-up.  So I spent a total of an hour and twenty minutes on the Yeti trying to make my legs go fast and boy was that a challenge.  My lactate threshold is still resting where it plummeted after my years off for a broken collarbone, heart and such, and this winter with the hormonal issues I have been having I gained 10 pounds, and I really felt it going up those first couple of hills.  It certainly was fun to try and open it up, but between the mud and my legs that felt as if they could not turn over fast enough, I know I have my work cut out for me if I'm going to try to place respectably in any race this season.  I've mastered the art of lowering my expectations though.  It's all good to me at this point.

Anyway,  below are a few that were taken with my camera today.  And here are hundreds of awesome pics taken by Don Pagano at the event that are much better than mine.  Enjoy.
